Day 2 Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to Sassari for the Sardinian horse riding parade, Folk entertainment at which numerous groups of traditional dancers and horse riders participate, from all over the island. Typical lunch in a tavern. Afternoon dedicated to visiting the city’s principal monuments: Piazza d’Italia, Palazzo Ducale, the Duomo and the Church of Santa Maria. In the evening groups of Folk dancers and singers entertain in the main square. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 3 Full board in an hotel. A morning visit to the splendid caves of Nettuno, by overland, situated in the spectacular calcareous promontory of Capo Caccia. A stop over, weather permitting, in a coral handicraft workshop. Lunch in hotel and an afternoon walk through the historical Catalan centre. Places to visit: Church of San Francesco, Cathedral of Santa Maria, Palazzo d’Albis). Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 4 Breakfast in hotel and departure to discover the suggestive spots along the northern coast. Arrival in Castlesardo, a mediaeval town built on a basaltic promontory which dominates the entire Gulf of Asinara. A visit to the historical centre, founded by the Genovese and kept more or less intact, even in these modern times, time to shop for traditional wines, local produce and cakes. A lay over for photo taking at the tafone trachyte Elephant Rock and departure for Santa Terese of Gallura. Lunch in a restaurant. An afternoon panoramic tour of the splendid granite area of Capo Testa with a view of the nearby coast of Corsica. Arrival near Costa Smeralda, book into hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 5 Breakfast in hotel. A short crossing to reach the Island of the Maddalena. Morning dedicated to visiting the Garibaldino Museum on the Island of Caprera, where mementos of the Hero of the Two Worlds are kept and, a panoramic walk of the Maddalenina Island. Lunch in a restaurant. Visiting the Costa Smeralda in the afternoon. A tourist trip on the small train around the bay to view the marvellous inlets set off by the elite hotels and dreamlike villas. A stop over in Porto Cervo, meeting place for the VIP’s. Transfer to Olbia in time for embarking.
