Arrival in Olbia, encounter with the tour guide and a visit to the Romanesque Church of San Simplicio. Continuing on to Tempio Pausania admiring the splendid countryside of inland Gallura, rich with granite rock and cork tree forests. Lunch in a restaurant in Badesi and afternoon departure for Perfugas and a visit to the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli (Saint Mary of the Angels) which houses the relic of San Giorgio, a valuable work of the Catalan school. The tour continues on to Nulvi to see the Candelieri, held in custody in the Church of San Filippo, this votive wax, is brought in procession in memory of the pest of the 600’s, then, on to Tergu to visit the Church of Santa Maria and arriving in Castelsardo to book into the hotel have dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2
Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Porto Torres: a visit to the Basilica of San Gavino, built in the XI century, on a pre-existing crypt and burial place of the martyrs Gavino, Proto and Gianuario.
On to Saccargia to visit the “Roman-Pisano” church of the SS. Trinità. Transfer to the nearby locality of Ardara. Lunch in a restaurant and afternoon visit to the “Romanesque” church named for Santa Maria del Regno, embellished by the recently restored, splendid 16th. century relic. A short transfer to visit the Church of Sant’Antioco di Bisarcio, ancient seat of the diocese. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Borutta, a small village with the majestic Basilica of San Pietro di Sorres, inhabited by a community of Benedictine Monks, continuing on to Oristano to settle into the hotel and have lunch. An afternoon visit to Tuili to view the painting of S. Pietro by the maestro of Castlesardo. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4
Breakfast in the hotel and a visit to the ruins of Tharros, founded by the Phoenicians and among the most important of the ancient Mediterranean, in a dominant position on the Gulf of Oristano. Transfer to Cabras village, with it’s well known lagoon, where the mullet fish is caught and from which the famous “Bottarga” comes, lunch in a restaurant and the afternoon free to visit the town of Oristano. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to Cagliari: a visit to the historical centre, still protected by bastions and dominated by the San Pancrazio and Elephant towers. A visit to the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Bonaria. Book into the hotel on the coast road of Cagliari and lunch. Free afternoon to visit the centre and shop for souvenirs. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6
Breakfast in the hotel with the rest of the morning dedicated to visiting Nora, founded by the Phoenicians in 800 A.D. During the trip, the numerous examples of Flamingos that wade in the pond of Santa Gilla can be admired. Lunch in a restaurant. Return to the city in the afternoon, in time to embark.
