Arrival in Olbia, encounter with tour guide and departure for Dorgali, the part of Ogliastra known for it’s production of cannonau wine. A visit to the social canteen before going on to the nearby locality of Oliena. Arrival in Monte Maccione for a lunch of Barbaricine specialities and local wine. On reaching Fonni in the afternoon, well known for biscuits and traditional carasau bread, a visit to the bakery and then, booking into hotel. Traditional dinner and Folk show in “Su Barraccu”, a characteristic building.
Day 2
The morning is reserved for visiting the nugget factory in Tonara. After lunch with the shepherds, on to Orgosolo in time to assist in cheese making, still done by using old methods, a walk through the streets of the town to see the “murales” and back to the hotel in time for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3
Breakfast in hotel and departure for Oristano, vernacia wine producing area. After a visit to the wine canteen, on to Cabras fishing village, well known for it’s production of “bottarga” which comes from mullet fish. Lunch in a restaurant, with local specialities and time for a walk along the lagoon of Cabras. Book into an hotel near Oristano, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4
Breakfast in hotel. Departure for Bosa, the undisputed malvasia wine producing area. A stopover at the Flusso canteen, and on to Alghero, along the wild northwest coast of the island. A lunch of Catalan specialities, and the afternoon dedicated to visiting Alghero and the vineyards of Sella & Mosca. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
Day 5
Breakfast in hotel and the morning dedicated to visiting Sassari and it’s historical centre. Lunch in a tavern serving local traditional food, after which it’s on to Tempio Pausania, in the heart of the Gallura, an important area for the production of vermentino wine. A visit to the wine canteen and time to browse around the town, entirely built on granite stone. Book into hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6
Breakfast in the hotel and separture to Santa Teresa di Gallura, passing the lovely cork tree forests found throughout the region of Gallura. A visit to the granite promontory of Capo Testa, facing the Mouth of Boniface, Corsica. Spectacular is the word for the beautiful panoramas of the Corsica and the islands of the archipelago of the Maddalena. Then, it’s on to the Costa Smeralda and lunch in a renowned restaurant there. The afternoon is dedicated to visiting the luxurious Porto Cervo with a stopover in the famous localities and a trip on the tourist train to see the villas of the VIP. Transfer to Olbia in time for embarkation procedures.
